OUR COMMITMENT

1.1 We want everyone to be able to use our services, including people with disability, people using assistive technology, older people, and people who find English difficult.

1.2 We are covered by the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth), which makes it unlawful to discriminate on the basis of disability in the provision of goods, services and facilities. We take that obligation seriously, and we also think it is simply how a professional firm should operate.

1.3 This statement is deliberately honest about where we currently stand. We would rather tell you what does not yet work and how to get help than claim a standard we have not verified.

THE STANDARD WE WORK TO

2.1 We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA for our website and the documents we publish on it.

2.2 WCAG is the standard referenced by the Australian Human Rights Commission in its guidance on the Disability Discrimination Act, and it is the standard used across Australian government and industry.

2.3 Meeting a technical standard is not the whole of accessibility. Where the website cannot serve you, clause 5 sets out how we will.

CURRENT CONFORMANCE STATUS

3.1 Our website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partially conformant means some parts of the site do not yet fully meet the standard.

3.2 Our site is built on a third party content management system and page builder. Some components, including navigation menus, promotional banners, embedded booking and messaging tools and third party calculators, are not fully within our control and may not meet the standard.

3.3 We have not yet completed an independent accessibility audit. Until we have, we do not claim full conformance. Clause 4 records the limitations we currently know about.

3.4 This statement was last assessed on [insert date], by [insert whether self-assessment or independent audit, and by whom].

KNOWN LIMITATIONS

4.1 If you encounter a barrier that is not listed, please tell us using clause 7. We will record it, respond to you, and add it here.

GETTING HELP ANOTHER WAY

5.1 If any part of our website or any document is not accessible to you, you do not have to work around it. Contact us and we will provide the same information or service another way, at no additional cost.

5.2 We can:

(a) take your enquiry, quote request or booking by telephone on 1300 626 258;

(b) meet you in person at any of our offices, or arrange a video or telephone appointment;

(c) provide a document in large print, plain text, or another format you ask for where we reasonably can;

(d) read a document to you and complete a form with you;

(e) work with your support person, carer, interpreter or advocate, with your authority; and

(f) assist in Punjabi and Hindi, and arrange an interpreter in other languages where practicable.

5.3 You do not need to explain or evidence a disability to ask for assistance under this clause.

5.4 If you use the National Relay Service, you can reach us through www.accesshub.gov.au using our telephone number. If you use the Translating and Interpreting Service, you can reach us through TIS National on 131 450.

WHAT WE ARE DOING

6.1 We include accessibility in our requirements when we build or change a page, select a plugin or supplier, or publish a document.

6.2 We are working towards:

(a) an assessment of the site against WCAG 2.2 Level AA, using both automated testing and manual keyboard and screen reader testing;

(b) remediation of the limitations recorded in clause 4, prioritised by how much they block someone from getting a service;

(c) alternative text, heading structure and colour contrast standards applied to new content as it is published;

(d) accessible source documents, so that published material is readable by assistive technology; and

(e) raising accessibility with the suppliers of embedded tools we rely on.

6.3 We do not use an accessibility overlay or plugin as a substitute for fixing the underlying issues.

FEEDBACK AND COMPLAINTS

7.1 Tell us if you have trouble using our website or our services. Describe the page or document, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology or browser you were using if you know it.

7.2 We acknowledge accessibility feedback within 5 business days and tell you what we can do and by when. Where we can provide the information another way, we will do that straight away rather than wait for a fix.

7.3 If you are not satisfied with our response, you may make a complaint to the Australian Human Rights Commission at www.humanrights.gov.au, telephone 1300 656 419.
